Summer Chess Tournament in Lleida: Club Escacs Balàfia at Secà de Sant Pere
Club Escacs Balàfia is organizing a new Summer Chess Tournament in Lleida, an event designed to enjoy chess in a friendly, social and welcoming atmosphere. The aim is to continue bringing chess closer to the city’s neighbourhoods and to create an open space where club members, regular players and chess enthusiasts can share an evening of sport, strategy and community.
The tournament will take place on Friday, 03/07/2026 at 7:30 p.m. at the Centre Cívic del Secà de Sant Pere, an important community and cultural venue in the neighbourhood. It will be a great opportunity to bring chess into a local community setting and encourage participation from players of all ages and levels.
The tournament will be played at a 5-minute time control with no increment, over a total of 8 rounds. This fast-paced format makes the games dynamic, exciting and accessible for experienced players as well as for those who have never played in a tournament before. The main goal is to enjoy the game, learn, share experiences and play chess in a respectful and sporting environment.
Participation will be free for Club Escacs Balàfia members and non-federated players. Other participants will require a prior invitation. Places are limited, so early registration is strongly recommended.
We especially encourage all Club Escacs Balàfia members to take part. This tournament is a great opportunity to meet around the chessboard, strengthen our club community and continue promoting chess in Lleida.
We would also like to make a special invitation to non-federated players. If you enjoy chess but have not yet taken part in an organized event, this tournament is a perfect opportunity to start. No competitive experience is required: just the desire to play, learn and enjoy a great evening. Chess is a sport for everyone, and this tournament aims to be a welcoming space to discover it, return to it or simply enjoy it in good company.
Club Escacs Balàfia would like to express its gratitude to the Secà de Sant Pere Neighbourhood Association for its collaboration and support in making this activity possible in the neighbourhood. We also thank the Lleida City Council and the Diputació de Lleida for their support, helping to promote sporting, social and cultural activities in the city and across the region.
