Escacs Balàfia Lleida: a great chess weekend with 5 trophies in the Rapid Territorial Championship
This weekend, Club Escacs Balàfia enjoyed two very special days full of chess, community spirit, effort and excellent sporting results.
On Saturday, we hosted the “Tots els nens Juguem!! Balàfia 2026” tournament at the Balàfia Civic Centre, an event designed for young players to enjoy chess, compete, learn and share a great experience around the board. We would like to sincerely thank all the children, families, clubs and everyone who helped make this day possible.
We would also like to apologise for the heat experienced during the tournament due to the lack of air conditioning. We are aware that the conditions were not ideal, and we truly appreciate the understanding, patience and positive attitude shown by all participants and accompanying families.
On Sunday, another major event took place: the 2026 Lleida Territorial Individual Rapid Chess Championship. Our players delivered an excellent performance, showing concentration, competitive spirit and a very strong level of play in a demanding tournament.
The final result could not have been more positive: 5 of our 6 players won trophies. An outstanding achievement for Club Escacs Balàfia:
- Daniel Cosialls: 2nd place overall.
- Miguel Ángel Vicente: 1st place in section C.
- Mohammad Amin Piltan: 1st place in section D.
- Miquel Vicente: 1st place U18.
- Joan Vicente: 3rd place U14.
We would like to congratulate and thank all our players for their effort, dedication and achievements. Beyond the trophies, this weekend leaves us with something even more valuable: the image of a lively, competitive club committed to promoting chess in Balàfia and Lleida.
