Club Escacs Balàfia from Lleida competes in Tàrrega and Mollerussa
Yesterday, Sunday 17 May, several players from Club Escacs Balàfia in Lleida took part in a new competitive day of chess, showing commitment, fighting spirit and a strong desire to keep improving over the board.
The presence of Balàfia was split between two important events: the XXIII Ciutat de Tàrrega Festa Major Rapid Tournament and the XLV Festa Major de Mollerussa 2026 Team Championship. It was a very positive day for our players and for chess in Lleida.
Balàfia represented in the Tàrrega rapid tournament
In Tàrrega, Club Escacs Balàfia was represented by Miguel Angel Vicente, Joan Vicente and Miquel Vicente .
A special mention goes to Miguel Angel Vicente, who achieved an excellent 6th place with 6 points out of 8. This was a very strong result in a rapid chess tournament, where concentration, tactical awareness and time management are key factors.
We also congratulate Joan Vicente, who scored 3 points, and Miquel Vicente , who finished with 2 points. Every game played is a chance to learn, correct mistakes and continue growing as a chess player.
Club Escacs Balàfia gains team experience in Mollerussa
In Mollerussa, Jordi Borràs and Mohammad Amin played as part of the Mixed Team in a team tournament held at blitz tempo.
This type of team chess competition is especially demanding, combining speed, competitive pressure and collective responsibility. Jordi contributed 3 points, while Mohammad Amin added 2, helping the team through an intense and valuable chess experience.
