Chess in the Streets, Make Your Move and Join the Community!

Club d’Escacs Balàfia brought chess to the streets as part of the 2026 Lleida Autumn Major Festival, with an activity held next to Lleida Cathedral to bring chess closer to the local community and strengthen the presence of the sport throughout the city.

The event was another opportunity to enjoy chess in Lleida in an open, accessible and welcoming environment. Beyond the games themselves, the activity created a meeting point for players, families, chess enthusiasts and anyone interested in discovering or enjoying the game.

For Club d’Escacs Balàfia, bringing chess into the streets means much more than setting up boards and playing games. It means building a club, creating community and promoting chess in Lleida. Activities like this help introduce chess to new audiences while highlighting its values of concentration, strategy, respect, learning and social interaction.

The 2026 Autumn Major Festival activity was also made possible thanks to the involvement of our members, supporters and the entire Club d’Escacs Balàfia team. Their time, commitment and enthusiasm are essential to continuing to organise activities and helping the club grow.
