Recognition for our president at the Centenary of the Catalan Chess Federation

Last Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, the Drassanes Reials in Barcelona hosted the Centenary celebration of the Catalan Chess Federation, an unforgettable event that gathered over 500 people to honor the history and community of chess in our region.

For the Balàfia Chess Club, this event was especially meaningful. Our president was awarded a recognition prize for his long-standing dedication and commitment to the club and Catalan chess. It is an honor to see his constant effort, selfless involvement, and passion for the sport being acknowledged in such an important event.

From the board of directors, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to him for his tireless work, which has been fundamental to the growth of Balàfia Chess Club and to promoting chess culture in our community.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the Catalan Chess Federation for organizing this outstanding event and for recognizing our president’s contribution. Such events highlight the people who, through discretion and perseverance, help chess continue to grow.

The event included other significant recognitions and ended with a festive celebration that strengthened the bonds within our chess community. It has been a true honor to be part of this historic commemoration.
