Two Club d’Escacs Balàfia Players Shine at the Tàrrega Festa Major Chess Tournament

This Sunday, May 18th, 2025, as part of the Festa Major de Maig in Tàrrega, the 22nd Tàrrega Chess Tournament took place at the city’s Municipal Pavilion. From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the event brought together a wide range of players from different categories and clubs across the region.

The Club d’Escacs Balàfia was proudly represented by two of its members, who both showcased strong performances and competitive spirit throughout the tournament’s eight rounds.

Miquel A. Vicente Oliva, with an Elo rating of 1832, had a solid showing, scoring 5.5 points and securing the 13th position in the final standings. He maintained a consistent and strategic game against high-level opponents.

Meanwhile, young Miquel Vicente Casaseca, competing in the Under-16 category, earned 4 points, finishing in 31st place. His performance was especially impressive, demonstrating growth and maturity in his play, even when facing more experienced rivals.

The tournament was won by Eloi Escudero Ribó of the Tres Peons club, who achieved a perfect score of 8 points. The competition was held in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship, offering a great opportunity to promote chess within the community and celebrate the festive traditions of Tàrrega.
